Description

Renne is an excellent example of a Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 55 the largest design to date in the venerable line of yachts. A main feature of the design is the arch that supports the mainsheet, bimini, cockpit speakers, and lights. The yacht's primary winches are electric and can be controlled from either of the dual steering stations. Both the main and genoa sheets are led aft under the coachroof coamings to keep the deck clean and uncluttered. The self-tacking jib will make shorthanded sailing easy, and for reaching and running conditions the bow has been configured for a furling gennaker or a Code 0 sail for light air. Belowdeck there’s a panoramic 360-degree view from both the dinette table to starboard and the navigation table to port in the main saloon. In keeping with the bluewater design brief, tankage includes some 110 gallons for fuel and 211 gallons for water. Renne has benefited from recent upgrades in 2023 included New Raymarine Instruments, standing rigging replaced 2021, mast re-wired 2021 and new Mainsheet traveller on arch fitted 2023. She is currently ashore at Clyde Marina and can be viewed seven days a week during office hours. Viewing highly recommended. Construction and Mechanical RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) and is Cat A - "Ocean rated" Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction: White GRP/Balsa sandwich hull built with the infusion process, ensuring an optimized resin/glass-fibre ratio; with dark blue hull lines. Hull protected with a bisphenolic resin on outer layers of sandwich. Composite hull structural grid (open type), glassed and glued to the hull (acrylatic urethane). GRP/Balsa sandwich deck bonded to the hull via mechanical fasteners and polyurethane compound at bulwark level. Teak side decks, cockpit seats and floor. Cast iron bulb keel (deep), fastened with stainless steel bolts, nuts and counter-plates. Propulsion & Steering: Rack & pinion transmission steering system with 2 steering wheels; composite rudder shaft. 2 x Steering positions with navigation equipment panels, 2 x electronic engine control levers and engine panel to starboard steering position. Emergency tiller. General: Tilting, teak slatted electric aft platform with remote control. Folding stainless steel swim ladder. 2 x Lockers in front of steering stations with lids shaped as cockpit/side decks access steps. 2 x Large lockers on each side of aft platform with storage bags. Gas struts on cockpit lockers lids. Storage compartments on each side of roof close to companionway. Cold molded teak folding cockpit table, stainless steel handrail. Composite arch receiving the mainsheet, the cockpit speakers and the cockpit lighting (also supports the optional bimini). 2 x Grab rails on the arches. Bulwark covered with solid teak, 8 x specific stainless steel fairleads. Stainless steel fresh water and fuel intake fillers. Stainless steel, 760mm high stern pulpit with closing gate, life buoy support, flag mast and outboard engine support. "Open" type stainless steel, 760mm high bow pulpit. 760mm high stainless steel stanchions with lateral opening gates. 2 x Stainless steel handrails on cabin top. 2 x Stainless steel handrails on forward part of cabin top (also can serve as tender supports). 1 x Self-draining fender locker in starboard side-decks. 1 x Self-draining gas locker in port side-decks. Sail locker forward with ventilator on hatch, grating, sail storage supports and electric bilge pump. Stainless steel bow fitting with deck protection, 2 x anchor rollers, chain locking system and gennaker attachment fitting. Mechanical: 1 x Yanmar 110hp diesel engine/direct shaft transmission. Engine room with themric/sound insulation. Feather Stream 4 bladed propeller new 2024 on a shaft-drive with rope cutter. Electrical: 24V/230V electric control panel at chart table. 88Ah engine start battery. 24V circuit with 8 x gel batteries (total capacity 540Ah.). 2 x 60A battery chargers for 24V system. 1 × 25A battery charger for 12V batteries. Mast Rigging and Sails, Accommodation Rig: Keel stepped anodised aluminium mast (electric in mast mainsail furling). The in mast furling system was up graded to an oversized tensioned foil from Selden, with bespoke parts engineered to allow installation. 3 x Sets of aft swept spreaders. Anodised aluminium boom. Rigid boom vang. Facnor® Solent jib furler with tack on swivel. inner forestay has been added with running back stays. All the Standing rigging was replaced 2021. Single strand stainless steel rigging: double backstay, forestay, lower, intermediate and upper shrouds. Hull side fitted upper and lower chain plates.
