Description

BOAT VIEWING: August 13th and 14th in Nazaré, Portugal. Registration with Niklas Forsén. Aphrodite 51 is a fantastic, classic blue water cruising yacht manufactured on Orust by Rex Marin. The model was taken over by Najad in the early 1990s and became Najad 520 and later Najad 520 DS. The interior is truly well-crafted and very well-maintained, with that little extra touch that characterizes Orust-built boats from the 90s. It's difficult to do justice to the mahogany work with a descriptive text. You simply have to come on board to see and appreciate the fine craftsmanship. A good start is to carefully go through the pictures taken by Båtagent in January 2024 on location in Nazaré, Portugal. The construction of Aphrodite 51 provides safe and comfortable sailing regardless of weather conditions and the size of the seas to be crossed. The boat is suitable for both blue water cruising and holiday sailing if you are looking for a spacious, well-sailing, high-quality, and very well-crafted and safe boat. Plenty of space for up to eight people in four cabins, with the aft cabin being a true owner's cabin. The salon is cozy and invites pleasant socializing. To port after the staircase, there is a galley with benches on both sides that provide good space but also good support for cooking at sea. Aft, through the galley, you reach a spacious owner's cabin with a good double berth, seating areas, toilet with shower, desk/vanity, and beautiful windows set in the aft panel. To starboard after the staircase; guest cabin for two people, and beyond this cabin, there is a spacious and well-equipped navigation station. The salon consists of a spacious U-shaped sofa to port, a nice table, and two armchairs. To starboard, another table and a smaller L-shaped sofa. In front of the forward bulkhead: to port, guest cabin no. 2 for two people. To starboard: toilet, and forward, there is a nice forepeak also with room for two people. The equipment list is extensive and available as a downloadable PDF file. Most of the technical equipment has been replaced or renovated between 2019-2024. The boat has everything for long-distance sailing; two different and separate watermakers, all navigation equipment, autopilot, satellite phone, heater, and well-equipped galley. In terms of power supply, there is everything one could wish for: diesel generator, solar panels, Watt & Sea (water generator), lithium batteries, and a good charger. On the safety side, there is a rescue raft for 8 people, Epirb, gas alarm, fire alarm, 4 fire extinguishers, emergency suits, and 8 life jackets. Additionally, a good rubber dinghy with a 9.9 hp outboard motor to hang in davits. The underwater part of the hull has been sanded down and epoxy-treated by Atlantic Marine in Nazaré in 2022. The keel bolts were replaced in 2023, and the diesel tanks were removed and cleaned. With the current owner, the boat has been sailed from Sweden to Portugal and Nazaré. In 2022, it went to the Caribbean and back to Nazaré. The boat was originally sold to Italy and came to Sweden in 2016. The boat is registered in the Swedish ship registry. VAT within the EU was paid at the time of the new boat purchase in 1990. During March, the boat is undergoing work at the shipyard in Nazaré to replace the hull penetrations around the engine compartment and to conduct a total overhaul of the three engines. Both main engines and the Westerbeke generator have been removed and thoroughly inspected. The wood details around the hatch are being sanded and varnished. The work is expected to be completed by the end of April, and the boat is expected to be ready for the sea in May 2024. The boat is being sold by Swedish owners and is located in Nazaré, Portugal, and can be viewed by Båtagent's broker on-site by appointment. The nearest international airport is Lisbon. Another option is Porto, where Ryan Air, among others, flies. Båtagent may be able to arrange transport sailing to your home port. ENGLISH: Please call or e-mail - Niklas Forsén.
