Description
The Coronet Elvstrøm 38 is a sailboat designed by the famous Danish racing sailor Paul Elvstrøm. She is a motor-cruiser that offers a combination of speed and comfort. The Elvstrøm 38’s unique feature is her bulbous bow, which is intended to modify the waves generated by the bow as it travels through the water, thus flattening the resultant wave pattern along the hull, reducing drag and in turn increasing hull speed and also reducing pitching. This type of bow is used on ships to reduce drag and reduce fuel consumption. The boat has a sleek design with clean lines and a low-profile cabin. It has a large wheelhouse with plenty of seating and a spacious deck for easy maneuverability. She is a sturdily built motor sailor with GRP/Balsa hull and deck, a solid lead fin keel ballast and a skeg hung rudder. The boat was built in 1977 by Botved Boats of Denmark. Her balsa core hull makes her light and well insulated while her lead ballast keel makes her stable. The under water areas were epoxy treated in by a previous owner. This was completed as a preventative measure due to the hull’s age.
